In Zaporizhzhia, as in many other cities in Ukraine, there is a large number of internally displaced persons seeking safety and opportunities to restore normal life. One of the main challenges for such families is ensuring warmth in their homes during the heating season. Providing assistance in the form of fuel briquettes to residents of the Polohy community temporarily staying in Zaporizhzhia is an important element of support, which helps reduce financial burdens and create comfortable conditions for the winter period. The team of the Charitable Fund “WORLD. UKRAINE.POLOHY,” as part of the project “Assistance to Internally Displaced Persons from the Polohy Community Who Evacuated to Zaporizhzhia in Preparation for the Autumn-Winter Period,” conducted a survey, the results of which showed how crucial this support is for restoring normal life for IDPs. For example, a family of three living in a rented house had no heating options. However, thanks to the fuel briquettes they received, the family was able to ensure heating in their temporary housing, which allowed them to focus on other key aspects of adapting to their new living conditions. This project not only helps solve the heating issue but also highlights the importance of mutual support and unity in difficult times. The project is implemented within the EMPOWER project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) @BMZ.Bund, in collaboration with the European Union @EUinEmergencies, and implemented by GIZ Ukraine @GIZUkraine.
